i only have one story about a sergeant major . in 1971 a captain got p oed at me . he ordered me to followed him to the company commanders office . when we stepped into the outer office where the sergeant major was . the captain ask to see the commander . the sergeant major asked what the problem was . the captain started screaming about me . the sergeant major told the captain to lower his voice . then the sergeant told the captain he would take care of it . that was the first time i saw a captain afraid of a sergeant . i smiled after the captain left and the sergeant said what the hell you smiling at . then told me to get out before he shove his foot up my you know what .. never heard another word about it .. that's when i learned you never mess with the top sergeant .

damn, knew a ssg in the guard who started when he was 18 and got out when he was 61. 43 years in service with no pause, his first few years were active, but he spent decades in the guard. Guy had 4 MOS's throughout his career and was running under 14:00 minute 2 mile at age 60 during the ACFT.

I was an elementary school kid in the 1st grade and just arrived in Huntsville when this was made. It was a fantastic time to live in that city. We saw the new Huntsville "Jetport" opened, and heard and felt the rocket motors being tested. We lived in Jones Valley, and it was a great place to be a kid.

My dad went into the Army to pay for college and switched to the Air Force a couple years in. 35 years after joining the Army, he retired as Chief Master Sergeant (in the AF) and now continues to do his emergency management job for other businesses.

I was a 92 G in the U.S. Army, aka a cook. It sucks. Many many hours. I still remember my record for a shift, 17 hours and 10 minutes. I worked probably 200 shifts that lasted atleast 16 hours each. It’s a morrale killer. That’s why I got out after my first contract. Didn’t want to really to be honest but that left me no choice. I was always tired. Very unhealthy.

I know this sounds really crazy, but I believe as many countries need to convert their arsenals to launching material in the space. We landed on the moon back in 1969. We sent robots and monitor Mars. Sending robots to monitor planets provides useful information, but it’s just not enough. We are still confined to one planet, and there is no planet that has the same gravity as Earth. Building a permanent rotating space station, that can support people off planet indefinitely is what’s necessary. And it needs to be able to be replicated not just in orbit of earth, but on every single planet. Once we can build permanent space platforms that can support people and settlements- That Moves The Needle. We need to be able to build cylinders in space. That’s the Only Way you can have Safe, Viable Long Term Settlements that can be Permanent. In order to do That, The arsenals on earth need to be converted to launching that much material into space, Because it’s going to require launching at least between two and 6,000,000 tons of steel and composites into orbit. Anything else is a waste of time. Gathering any more information doesn’t Move people off planet and permanently into space

My dad worked on the Redstone missiles when they were being converted way back just before John Glenn made his flight. They were modifying the missiles in order to make spaceflight possible. He was a part of that. He would see Werner von Braun during those days, they would literally meet before work, have their meetings, and then supervise. My dad is in his 80s now, but that really did happen. A lot of people don’t realize a lot went on before NASA was created and even before we went to the moon. It bothers me that people today question whether or not we even went to the moon. So many people spent years doing everything they could to make it possible.
